Glorious Break

Well, folks, I am back! This is both good and bad. It’s good that I am back where I have internet access and can sleep in my own bed again (oh, and did I mention that I am SO thankful for a baby-proofed home?? Cuz I am.). Bad that I have to go back to work and can’t spend my days lounging by the pool getting my tan on. Oh well, all good things must come to an end. Our week-long vacation was marvelous! It was so nice not having anything to worry about or having someplace to be- I loved just relaxing.

We went on a few outings, but mainly we hung around the condo, lay by the pool and watched TV… with CABLE. Yes, watching “Real Housewives of New Jersey/ Orange County/ New York” was a big part of vacation for me and the two other girls considering NONE of us have cable anymore. Two other couples came with us: my cousin, Sean, his wife, Sara, and their baby girl, Addison & Trevor’s childhood friend, Zack, and his fiancee, Sarah. Yep, two Sara/hs, but it wasn’t all that confusing.

Each day went something like this: wake up, eat breakfast, change into swimsuits, lay out by the pool until lunch (Knox napped by the pool each day underneath the big umbrella… it rocked), eat lunch, relax, eat dinner, put Knox to bed, have a cocktail and watch “Real Housewives.” It was so nice. Oh yes, and see how I had cocktails? Yes, that’s because I’m not pregnant. I got my period the second day we were there, which was very sad for two reasons 1) I’m not pregnant and 2) no sex while on vacation. Double dose of crap. Oh well. Better luck next time.

I already mentioned Knox napping by the pool, and I have to tell you, he adored the swimming pool. He played in his turtle float, splashed the heck out of his poor parents and wore his little self out. It was around 75 degrees each day, so it was perfect weather for a little snooze under the umbrella (back home today, it’s 95 degrees… I’m sweating just thinking about it). As much as he loved the pool, he HATED the beach and the ocean. He was scared of the sand and terrified of the ocean, so we stuck to hanging out poolside. I tried to do a bit of tanning while he napped. I have a very light tan, now, but I was so freaking pale when we got there I’m surprised I didn’t glow in the dark. I slathered myself with SPF 45 because I was not about to repeat the Great Sunburn of 2010 from Florida. Yowza. I also got to read a book for pleasure- “Water for Elephants,” which I loved and highly recommend.

We took Knox to Ripley’s Aquarium, which is such a neat place, because he is obsessed with fish tanks. He really liked it a lot- but he didn’t like being on the conveyor belt that takes you through the tunnel of fish tanks because he couldn’t touch the glass. He really dug touching the glass.

We also visited Broadway at the Beach, which is a huge shopping area with a boardwalk, movie theater, rides, games, etc. AND I got to go shopping at the outlet twice. That glorious, glorious place. I saved my scrawny amount of personal money for months so I could drop a load of cash at my favorite Banana Republic Outlet. We have a love-love relationship. It’s kind of sickening… I am surprised I don’t start drooling when I walk in the door.

Anyway, that’s enough chatter, time for an extreme picture overload! Seriously, this is going to be a LOT of pictures!

Ready to go to the pool!

Splashing your mom is SO fun

Knox's daily nap spot

Awww! Love this sweetness!

Venturing out to the beach

Knox's face cracks me up!

I don't think I like this... what is this stuff??

Eww! I don't want to touch it!

Come back!

Clinging to Trevor for dear life

Knox decided my nachos at Margaritaville looked WAY more appetizing than his grilled cheese

Got one!

Sweet Addison was not interested in the aquarium. She's so cute!!

Knox LOVED Addison's seat

This is basically how Knox acted all week long. Such a wild man!

There you have it, a zillion pictures of our vacation! I hope you guys had a great week last week, too!

I was terrified of sand when I was a toddler, which made going to the beach a piece of cake for my mom! She just set me in the middle of a blanket with a few toys and didn’t have to worry about me for a minute. She was constantly running after my younger sister at the same age, however, to keep her from eating fistfuls of snails and hermit crabs!

Looks like y’all had fun! My in-laws have a house in NMB, and we visit there a lot. We took Paxton to Ripley’s last year, but he was way too little to really enjoy it. I’m looking forward to taking him back while we’re there for the 4th. Glad y’all had a relaxing and fun vacay!

Sounds like such a wonderful week! (except for the period thing–not cool!) Way to rock that bathing suit!! Once I lose my 30 lbs, I’ll brave it. Until then, it’s my hubby’s long shorts and extra large shirt OVER my bathing suit. I don’t want to send someone screaming. Or worse, blind. :)

I tried reading that book and I got over 100 pages into it and I just couldn’t do it anymore. The animal neglect really got to me. I am one that can NOT walk into an animal shelter or even look at the cats at PetSmart. I ball my eyes out. It’s just so sad. I may or may not have cried when hearing about a lizard dying. Yes, I’m THAT emotional when it comes to animals.

That part of the book was kind of rough, but it had a good ending… that guy got what was coming to him!

What??? What guy?? It’s okay if you spill the beans and tell me how it ends. I won’t be finishing the book or seeing the movie unless I have 10 different kinds of anti-depressents in me to keep the crying controlled. :)

Love all the pics. My son LOVED the aquarium too, we were there when he was 15 months.

Where did you get your swimsuit? Love it.

    Hey Jessica

Where did you snag Knox’s turtle float? Gage had one last year but now I can’t seem to find one….thanks.
