Brody’s new favorite word is “outside.” By favorite, of course, I mean he says it 427 times a day. The kid would live in the yard if we let him (and if he bites me one more time, he may get his wish, little piranha). So to appease he and his big brother, we’ve been playing outside more and using our wagon. We got it two years or more ago and used it a handful of times, but that thing has become a necessity! We take walks in it, and we walked a ways Sunday to visit Nan and Pop.
Brody said “Pop! Pop!” the second he got on their porch to knock. They were happy about the surprise visit from their future neighbors.
Knox loves all of Nan’s bird houses and birdbaths, and he thought the fake birds in this decorative cage were real. He was scared to touch them, but then he got brave and started looking for eggs.
Brody played with some old trucks, then climbed (ie: was propped by his parents against his will for the sake of a cute picture on) a tree.
Trevor even caught a turtle to show the boys. He snuck up on it and snagged it- so proud of his superior turtle stalking abilities… when we realized the turtle was old and blind. That was some impressive stuff right there, Trevor, catching a senior citizen turtle with visual impairment. You’re so stealthy.
I’m so glad to be able to raise the boys in a place where they can be free to play outside and have space to run and experience nature- we showed Knox a beaver dam the other day on the pond, and he loved it! We are creating an oasis for our family where we can just “be” and live life at a slower pace. It’s refreshing and pretty exciting- now all we need is a house!
