Living Room Update

As promised, I am back to show you guys some updated photos of the living room. We haven’t done much else in here since moving in, aside from clearing out boxes and decorating the fireplace a bit more. Eventually, I’m going to hang curtains in here- once I have the time to remake our old ones. They’re way too short for these high ceilings, so I am going to get creative.  They’re a burnt orange color- I am obsessed with blue and orange together!

Here’s where we started:

Here are some photos of our living room as it looks today, just a couple months later:

We love our living room, especially the open concept with the kitchen. Other favorite aspects of this space are our reclaimed mantel (an old support beam from a local house that hosts weddings and events), our faux beam in the ceiling (it’s essentially a box made by our carpenter that was stained and tacked to the ceiling) and the new Ikea couch. Let me tell you, having a slipcovered couch is ESSENTIAL with little boys. I’ve already washed all of the seat cushion covers in the 1 1/2 months we’ve lived here thanks to endless chocolate milk drips and breakfast crumbs. Trevor’s leather “man chair” recliner was an amazing Craigslist find from right before we moved- it was in pristine condition and we paid $250. We found the tag under the reclining portion and it retailed for $1,300!! I also love our media cabinet- it’s from a local furniture store and was already the fun turquoise color. I made the name art that rests on it in Photoshop a few years ago after seeing this tutorial online. There are still projects to be done in this space, but I still love it as-is, in the meantime.

What’s your favorite thing about your living room? Any upcoming projects?

    Just beautiful!

We’re (still) (forever) working on our fireplace. Maybe it will be up to code by winter 2019. We’ll see. ; )
